The Chardi Kala's mission is to build bridges between Sikhs and non-Sikhs to reduce hate crimes against Sikhs.
We do this through outreach and education in the classroom with schools and community events within Whatcom County.
Kamalla brought some musicians to a Multicultural Club last quarter, where students got to hear and play tablas, learn how to tie turbans, and practice greetings in Punjabi. She and her team do engaging outreach, where they visit classrooms and facilitate conversations and activities with students and teachers. It’s eye-opening and exciting for students, and I enjoy the curiosity that is ignited as they explore, take risks, and make connections. This work is so needed! And the impact it has on students is deep and profound.”
